here’s a whole new set of road textures.
retextures include dirtroads for all gamezones
as well as new higher resolution texture for the main roads
and better looking cracks.
Don’t judge by the preview picture please, It’s all about seeing them from different angles
especially the main roads texture looks far better now, also added ruts and tire tracks to all the dirt roads, and covered the arctic side roads with more snow. unfortunately there are no normal maps for the roads or I would have made them look even better.
Comments and crits are welcome and encouraged.
make a texture folder in your dropzone folder if you don’t already have one and drop the roads folder in there.

Hey tool, love the asphalt. Looks really great.
Other roads look good as well, only thing I noticed was the tire treads on the dirt roads in the jungle area kind of look like they are floating on top of the road. Kind of hard to explain, but if you move the camera around close to it, you can see the original texture moving below the treads, separately.
Don’t know if it can be fixed. All the others are great. The snow has the same effect, but lessened, however, it makes sense as the snow would be on top of the road.

Hmmm, that’s weird, cause the original textures are completely covered up, you shouldn’t be able to see those at all. But I will look into it.
Remember all my settings are either turned to low or off completely so my textures may look different.
EDIT: yea man, I tried to look for what your talking about and I really don’t see it.
I don’t think your seeing the original texture that’s for sure, cause those are all completely covered up.
Right now you’re the only one that seems to be seeing this, If I start getting more complaints I shall redux them, or at least look into it again.

tool i tried this last night briefly and i really couldnt tell the difference ingame to be honest, did you use the existing textures and just clean them up? or are they different? i think ill try and take some comparison shots later to see the differences.

did you install them right?
You should definately be seeing a difference man, there’s tire tracks all over the dirt roads now.. and if you look closely at the ashpalt texture it is way more detailed and higher res.
Yea man. I dont think you installed correctly. You can even see the differences in my preview picks, especially the snow roads.
Make a folder in your dropzone folder named textures. Then extract the roads folder into that one.
so directory should be dropzone/textures/roads

ahhh, that might of been it, maybe i just dropped the .dds files in dropzone, i guess that would explain it. lol

Wasn’t a complaint, just an observation. I’ll see if I can pull a screen too show you what I mean. It might be a settings difference, as mine are almost maxed.
Like I said, great pack.

judging buy the size of the down load file , they have just been sharpened not replaced , its a shame that they wasn’t replaced bye true HD ones , but i spose the download file would be at lease a gb and half if they were true HD.
