- April 6, 2010 at 2:03 pm #84297
Once we figure out how to mod the original parachute I will do requests but seeing as its dlc i might get into trouble plus its not easy getting them in game and that will cause all sorts of issues….:police:
I will post textures i used here
and everyone can have a crack 👿
Check OP ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

Can you please tell everybody where the dlc parachute was located and what the file name was so we can more easily recognise the original parachute when we see it.
- April 6, 2010 at 2:52 pm #84341
Read the Tutorial its not as easy as just putting them into dropzone folder that is why i wont release them into mods because i will get lots of people asking dumb questions this is just a post your parachute skin thread

I think the readme is more then self explaining oO
who still got a problem now isnt supposed to mod his game i guess
- April 6, 2010 at 3:25 pm #84347
Yeah I read the tutorial and it turns out to be .blz ty

This is so ridiculously frustrating, then I looked at the bottom of pc0.arc in the viewer.
Seventeen thousand something unknown values. Whatcha want to bet the default parachute is in there somewhere? I even found the actual texture name at one point, I can’t remember where, somewhere online, or maybe in the documentation or something, but it was a similar name to what was given in the tutorial.
It’s in pc0.arc. All the actual textures are from the basic install. We just can’t see it yet because the viewer hasn’t discerned it yet.
I’ve sent a message to gibbed to see if this can be fixed.
- April 6, 2010 at 3:32 pm #84349
Yeah, it has to be there somewhere but all those annoying unknown values are just sitting there in gibbed’s archive veiwer, all 17163 of them and we don’t have a clue which one is the parachute.
- April 6, 2010 at 5:04 pm #84352
pc0.arc/-60760895.offzip/-60760895.sarc/ in -60760895 folder /gea05_dif.dds
- April 6, 2010 at 5:08 pm #84362
Thats got to be it. How did you find it, and have you figured out how to pull a copy?
- April 6, 2010 at 5:27 pm #84363
not yet will try tomorrow or hopefully some1 beats me to it 😆

Someone had to.
God that looks terrible. The 3d shape makes it look like its crying. Now we just need the original file so we don’t have to have the DLC to do it ourselves (friend of mine sent me this after I sent him the faq, he got the chaos chute pre-order)
Sad news. We found the texture. I pulled it out. I modded it. It’s impossible to change at this point.
I read the tutorial and sent it to a friend, and he sent that picture and feedback. Replacing the texture required a full replacement of the original archive.
With DLC, it’s easy. The archive is relatively tiny.
So I went for it. Extracted the entire archive, changed things, and replaced it several ways. I completely replaced pc0, I added the entire pc0 saved folder to dropzone. I added general.blz (the file with the texture in it) to dropzone. I added just the texture to dropzone.
Replacing the archive crashes the game. Adding the BLZ crashes the game. Adding the entire saved folder for pc0 to the archive causes the game to spend twenty minutes generating an arc/tab for the files which ends up being almost twice as big as the original pc0, after which the game starts and immediately crashes.
Without a toolset that includes enough documentation to let us know what the 17k unknowns in the pc0 archive comes along, we’re probably fucked when it comes to adding anything new items and changing a shit ton of the things we’d love to get our hands on.
On the other hand, we’ll be able to mod the fuck out of whatever DLC we get our hands on in the future.

I don’t get “Step 5” for the DLC tutorialQuote:Run Just Cause 2 but before closing the game copy the two newly created separate_files.arc and separate_files.tab and copy them into the Just Cause 2dlc directory replacing the pc_140.arc and .tab.
Can someone help me out
- April 8, 2010 at 9:08 am #84721
I think that when you run jc2, the two new files appear in your dropzone folder, so copy them into archves_win32
- April 8, 2010 at 9:13 am #84725
ahh, I didn’t know that
- April 8, 2010 at 10:05 am #84729
I think I have found a reference to the original parachute skin.
In pc0>known>exported>cdoll>mc01_rico.eez>mc01_rico.cdoll it has values for the hair and clothes .dds files in the other rico folder but at the bottom there are two values that say mc01_parachute_dif.dds, I think this must be the elusive parachute texture.

Sadly the only way I can use this would be if I managed to get a DLC code. To use the dlc in a yarrrrrr manor you must disable steam stuff like achievements

You must rename the files (separate_files.arc/.tab) into the same name as the ones in the DLC folder, and replace the files.
So, if you’re modding the chaos chute the final product should be pc_140.arc and pc_140.tab.
