In this thread, I walked someone through the process. (He’s adding to an airplane, but the process is the same.)

It’s got pretty much all the information you need.

Help with Mounting Weapons on Vehicles

I did what you told to that dude and I cant use the xml2bin program. I searched that and I read that the code is in the wrong place and I don’t know what to do now.

I pasted the code of the mounted in the military buggy to the cover file under the :

      -729179971

But it didn’t work ( I guess cause I wasn’t able to change it back to mvdoll )
What do I do now ??

You need to put the xml file through xmlconverter again and then use the smallpack to pack the folder to .sarc file and then change the extension to .eez and place it in the dropzone folder.

I know that but I pasted the code in the wrong place inside the xml and when I drag the .xml file to xml2bin the program is crashing that’s my problem.

By the way I textured some vehicles so I know how to use the gibbeds tools, but thanks.

Yes, you’re probably right about the code being pasted in
the wrong place, or there is something missing in the code.

At least in my experience, that will crash xml2bin.

Check that every one of your tags match all of your tags.
There has to be one for each.

But you’re trying to mount a turret? Hmmm… I remember that was more difficult.
(depending on the type of turret)
Maybe try doing the procedure with a more common weapon, like mini-gun or rocket launcher first.
Make sure you’ve got the process down. Then you can try the turret.

      Or, IF you want…
Take a look in the mods section for a vehicle with a similar style turret – Look at their code.
Just give some credit if you post your resulting mod.

Is it this turret? This turret is a little easier.

      Just some options.

hmm…this is the turret that I want to add cause I think it would look like a terrorist vehicle ish :P

Yep, the one in your picture is one of the tricky ones!

If you can find a vehicle in the mods section that has your turret, you can look at their code.

Otherwise, I would definitely START with adding an easier weapon, just to make sure you know the process.
(Like rocket launcher or mini-gun, etc)

      ….

    • #101435

Okk, I guess you’re right. Since i’m new to modding and stuff I would add the turret that you showed me earlier.
But I still don’t know where I’m gonna paste the code ??? =/

You were in the right ballpark with _smartobjects and the line below it.

Let’s say your stock vehicle xml looks like this …
(this is from the Quapaw Hind, but it works the same way)

      etc, etc

The you would add the code for your weapon of choice 2 lines under _smartobjects.
In other words – Where the original object started.
Like this (new weapon code in blue) …

NOTE that every has a matching
      and every has a matching
If this is not EXACT, then xml2bin will crash.

Also – Don’t forget that you will also have to adjust “DriverSeatController”.
That’s described in the other thread as well.
