    Can anyone help me to mod Just cause 2? I really want to learn how, but i dont understand most of the tutorials. Speciffically the air vechicles. Somone please help!!

    The tutorials are good. They are how I learned to mod.
    However, maybe I can give you some tips.

    But first…

    What is it you want to mod on the air vehicles?

    Ok i would like to start by adding weapons to some of the planes like the cassius, and later modding there speed, handling, and acceleration

    Ok. Easy.

    But first: You said you had trouble following the tutorials…
    How much progress did you make before you got stuck? Knowing this will help me help you.
    Otherwise, I might spend time telling you things you already know…

    For example:
    The first thing you need to do is Download Gibbed’s Tool Set.

    I use this one: http://www.justcause2mods.com/mods/other/Modding-Tools/Gibbeds-Tools-r128—MuNkEy/
    It’s stable and works fine for me.

    What part of the tutorials gave you the most trouble/confusion??

    I installed the tools already , but when i get to step 2 icant find settingsweapons.bin anywhere in pc0.tab so i get stuck there.

    I figured it out!! i made the rocket launcher it show in the tut! Also how do i know what weapon i am modding like the rocket launcher was weapon_8 what are the other names??

    I am at the part wher i unpacked the arve.v064_personal_jet and it made a folder, but now im stuck please give me more nformation on how to add weapons, and mod the speed handling and acceleration

    Most of them have the name buried in the code. Look for a string like this:

    Thanks for all the information, i kind of understand it, but at the bootom of the first link to the post it says im supposed to put the code in the right spot. Caould you maybe tell me where the right spot is. Also is this the file that im supposed to put the code in? I found this file inside the folder that came when i unpacked the arve.v064_personal_jet. I think i would like to put in 8 rockets total, 4 on each side if possible. Thanks for all the help so far, i ahve learned a little bit about modding:)

    No problem!

    Yes, .mvdoll is correct. It came out of your .eez folder…

    Drag and drop it onto bin2xml => an .xml

    That gives you your xml file to edit.

    When you’re done editing the .xml (more on that soon)

    Drag and drop the .xml onto xml2bin => an .mvdoll

    Put THAT new .mvdoll back in the unpacked .eez folder

    Drag and drop the unpacked .eez folder onto smallpack = a .sarc file

    Here’s the tricky part. Change the file extension from .sarc to .eez

    Okay – The code.

    You need one thing first. Unpack the .eez file for a vehicle that HAS the weapon you want.
    This is where you’ll find the weapon code you need to paste into your mod vehicle.
    [You should know what the weapon code looks like from the forum posts linked above.]

    Now go to your mod vehicle’s .xml file.

    Find these 2 lines of code:

    Paste the weapon code right below the second line.
    (This is what they mean by ‘put it in the right place’)

    Also – I suggest starting with just two rocket launchers on each side instead of 4 on each side.

    Get two working, then add more if necessary.

    EDIT

    HINT: If you have 4 rocket launchers…
    You have to designate two as “Right” and two as “Left”
    And sub-designate those as “R” and “R2”, and “L” and “L2”
    And they all have to have different “object id #’s”
    (You can just modify the last number in the string)

    Just click on the file and change the file name extension to .eez

    It will give you a warning message about the file might break
    and the world might end if you change the extension of a file,
    but just ignore that. ;)

    Ok… This is what happened.At first it didnt work, then i realized that the rocket text had been deleted!! So i did all that again, and then it worked, but there seems to be only one rocket launcher not two, if there was something i needed to do to get two i dint do that

    Ah… Make sure you have 4 full sets of Rocket Launcher code in your xml.
    One for each rocket. (That’s one reason I suggest starting with 4 instead of 8.)

    Think of it as being a modular system.
    1 set of weapon code = 1 weapon.

    Each SET of code will have a line with an identifier, like this:

    Lets just say that i was going to do 8 rocket launchers… would it be like _R3 and _R4 and L_3 and L_4 im probably wrong, but anyway i would like the postions to be on the wings just like in most other cassius mods

    I believe that’s true. But I’ve never tried more than 4. ;)
    Trust me. START with 4. It will save you headaches!

    If it were me, I would take some time later to fine-tune the “mount” location.
    BUT HEY… At the end of the day… It’s YOUR mod.

    Okay, about speed
    I’ll give you some tips.
    But there are other people who have done a lot more with speed mods. (More on that later.)

    For the very basic basic adjustment…
    I think you can just increase the top speed by looking for this value in the mvdoll (xml) file…
    150

    You could crank that up to 300 (or 900, knowing you!)
    And see what happens.

    Part 1 – Intro

    As I say, I’m not an expert on speed modding, but we can research and learn from others.
    If I were you, I would take a close look at the mvdoll/xml files for an existing mod or two.

    However, for that to MEAN anything to you, you’ll have to
    compare that mod to the original vehicle file.

    This is why you need Notepad++ and Compare

    I’d probably start here. I’m impressed with the performance of this mod for the little spy jet.

    ALSO – Even tho you’re working on a jet…
    I would look at Fitzmeister’s Weaponized Warbird 2.0
    He’s made a lot of advanced changes.

    You can chase down a G9 in it.

    (However, it’s a mo-fo to try to maneuver it, or to land it. It’s just FAST.)

    Comparing and/or Combining Files

    Let’s say you want see what’s different between a mod & the original game file.
    OR
    Let’s say you have 2 weapons.bin files that you want to combine.

    Take your two files.

    HINT: Rename them – to keep track of your changes.
    — For 2 mods – Something like Cassius-MyMod.mvdoll and Cassius-OrigGameFile.mvdoll
    — For Weapons.bin – Something like weapons-triggeredexp.bin and weapons-airzooka.bin


    IF YOU DON’T HAVE THE MOD TOOLS ALREADY

    > Download Gibbed’s Tools.
    You will only be using 2 of his tools (bin2xml and xml2bin)

    > Use the tool called bin2xml to change your two .bin files into .xml files.
    (Drag and drop a .bin file onto the bin2xml icon = .xml file)



    > Download Notepad++ and get the plug-in called “Compare”

    > Open both .xml files with Notepad++

    > Tell it to Compare Files.

    You’ll see exactly what’s different between the two files.
    All highlighted.
    Plain as day.
    Even if you don’t know code.
    You can see it ALL.

    The rest of this is talking about combining weapons.bin files, but you’ll get the idea.

    > Just copy and paste anything different from one file to the other file,
    until ONE file has everything you want.

    HINT: Save that file as something new. Whatever… Maybe weapons-trigger-airzooka.xml *

    > Use the tool called xml2bin to change it back into a .bin file
    (Same thing as bin2xml = drag and drop)

    IMPORTANT: Now rename your new .bin to weapons.bin

    > Put it in your dropzone.

    > Done! GO!

    I read all of this thread… WOW! I gotta say I now know how to put the weapons now… But one thing: I put 4 autocannons and 4 rockets on cargoplane and I need to put 2 on the left wing and 2 on the right wing from both rockets and autocannons. HOW?

    After hours and hours of testing, spreadsheets, and comparing,
    I have some tips for placing weapons on vehicles:

    So in this part of the weapons code:

    We’re concerned with this set of 3 values
    -1.720698,1.225615,1.101763

    1 = WIDTH —> LARGER # = FURTHER OUT from the sides of the vehicle
    2 = HEIGHT —> LARGER # = HIGHER UP on the vehicle
    3 = LENGTH —> SMALLER # = FURTHER FORWARD on the vehicle

    As for how FAR it moves… Roughly speaking:
    Changing a value from 1 to 2 will move it like a few feet.
    Changing a value from 1 to 1.1 will move it like a few inches.

    Reminder: In the 4 lines shown above…
    All the values in the first line (local) and the last line (world) have to match exactly.

    Reminder: For your weapons to be symmetrically placed:
    A RIGHT and LEFT weapon will have the same numbers,
    EXCEPT for a LEFT SIDE weapon = the first number in the string will be a NEGATIVE number.

    Whenever I want to place another weapon on the wing I will just move it with the WIDTH for 0.1 or 0.4. How is it?

    Yes, that sounds exactly right. Sometimes you just need to move things a little bit.
    And if it’s already close, sometimes moving it just ONE direction is best. ;)

    OH ok. But first I have to find the perfect spot on the wing :( It will take some time.
    I have this line:

    Its the line for the autocannon I got from the black plane. It shoots alright but I can’t see it on the plane… And I have no idea what to edit. (My guess that it is somewhere inside the body of the plane). But I have no idea what set of numbers I need to edit with your formula.

    Okay, from the string you have there, the ONLY numbers you’re interested in are:
    4.546396,2.13366,5.888133

    It’s always just the last 3 numbers in the string.
    The 3 numbers are separated by commas (,)

    And just for clarity:

    4.546396 = width
    2.13366 = height
    5.888133 = length

    Yes, your post is fine here.
    The process of weaponizing a vehicle is the same for all vehicles. Air, Land, Sea…

    You can add weapons to MOST vehicles. (There are a few vehicles that – for some strange reason – simply will not work correctly when you try to add weapons. The Winston Amen 69 PT Boat is a good example.)

    I would guess the Saas PP12 should be fine to add weapons to. Just read through this whole thread. There’s info at the back of the thread that may help explain the concepts at the beginning of the thread, because – I was literaly walking someone through the process.

    I don’t have time these days to do a one-on-one, but following this thread should get you going. But let us know if you have SPECIFIC questions. The more specific you are, the better we can help you. ;)

    Ok, so I’m able to put 2 miniguns and get it working. But it only turn left/right side slightly, how can I make it to turn 360 degrees? And if I do not want it to move (just pointing dead center), I just remove the up down left right thingy or?

    P.S Is it possible to add the turret/heavy machine gun that you found on the back of the military jeep(where players can mount on to it)?

    P.S.S Side question, how can I replace fragmentation bomb(grenade) with the space or other explosion type? :D

    I’d have to pour through my notes on the 360 rotation – no time this weekend. Sorry.

    So just from memory… I believe it’s in this line of code:

    Instead of 10000, I believe it’s either like 1 or 0 to make 360 turns.
    You can look at other similar mods (like my Tunguska mod) to confirm.



    Not sure about how to make it “not turn” / stationary version.



    For turret/heavy machine gun – That kind of thing is advanced / more difficult to explain.
    I THINK it’s possible in this case. But sometimes vehicles are picky about what parts they’ll “accept”.
    Again, you’d probably have to study existing mods.
